THE glory days that the Ministry of Sound nightclub basked in have been over for some time, but like their counterparts at Cream, a large part of the organisation's emphasis revolves around compilation music productions.

Elkie Brooks

Razorlight @ Manchester Arena, Tuesday 3 April

Razorlight

4:34pm Thursday 5th April 2007

ALTHOUGH you would hope, with hindsight, that Johnny Borrell realised that his quotes about being "the greatest songwriter of our generation" and "better than Dylan" were slightly far off the mark, you can't deny that Razorlight are a great band. Once you put the ego and the terrible skin-tight white jeans to one side, Up All Night was a fantastic album, and their most recent, Razorlight, an accomplished follow-up.

Versus Cancer, Friday 30 March - Manchester Arena

4:16pm Thursday 5th April 2007

FOLLOWING on from last year's partial Smiths reunion, it wasn't quite the Stone Roses reunion that had been hinted at and hoped for by many, but by all accounts you probably wont get much closer than Ian Brown and Mani taking to the stage to collaborate on I Am The Resurrection. Add to that another two bassists, Peter Hook and Andy Rourke, and you have a formidable, and loud, line-up. It was truly a Mancunian rock and roll super group not to be missed.
