Sigur Ros, Hvarf-Heim

12:44pm Thursday 15th November 2007

ICELAND'S dreamy post rockers Sigur Ros seem to have only recently gained the credit they so obviously deserve.

And it's only come since Hoppipolla', the first single from their last album Tak', was used on BBC 1's Planet Earth series.

Their latest release, the double CD Hvarf-Heim', is more of a catch up for new followers of the cult outfit as most of the tracks appear on past albums Von', Agaetis Byrjun' and the minimally titled ( )'.

Do not let this put you off. Hvarf' begins with two previously unreleased tracks before guiding you into the weird and wonderfully ambient world this unique band so delicately deploy, ending in the near 10 minute epic Hafsol'.

While Heim' (CD 2) offers little for collectors it does depict a perfect insight into the beautifully relaxing style Sigur Ros are capable of. If you are sick to the back teeth of an industrial, fast-paced and aggressive society you may well fall in love with this group.
